This beautiful little cork oak is a contribution towards a future where we will have more corkoak forests. It’s part of the initiative #hetbosvandetoekomst (#futureforest) started by Pro Suber® to realise more corkoak forest to grow the total volume of available cork material towards the future generations.
The latin name of this special tree is Quercus Suber and when it grows well, it’s bark (the corkbark) can be peeled the first time after approximately 25years without harming the tree. After this first peel we can harvest the cork in a cycle of 9 till 11 years.
